House at the arrival very dirty! We received only half the promised refund

+ The apartment is part of a complex of a few small apartments totally on the beach with direct access, certainly very pleasant and with beautiful views.

− Our experience with this apartment was both on the first day and at the end of the trip extremely negative: We arrived late in the evening and the apartment was totally dirty and with bad smell, never cleaned after previous guests. We immediately contacted the property who apologized for what had happened and promised us two nights refund and that within an hour a person would arrive to clean and take another half hour. Since it was late in the evening and we were tired from the trip, aware of the two nights of reimbursement that would cover the extra cost, we booked last minute for the first night a facility nearby, and asked the property to take proper time and do some more thorough cleaning and that we would return the next day trusting that the house would be clean. In fact, the next morning the property informed us that by 10:30 a.m. the house would be ready for our experience and so it was. We thought we were done with our misadventures and finally enjoyed the remaining 3 days. Unfortunately, the weeks after, we had to see that the property had no interest in refunding what was promised. After having to solicit it ourselves, we finally receive notification of the refund. The amount was really very low compared to what was expected and, upon contacting Booking assistance, they confirmed that it is only for one night and not two. The property disappeared and no longer answered to our messages but only to those from Booking assistance, lying and claiming that instead the nights refunded are two. Despite repeated reminders from Booking assistance to the property, the property stiffens on this position: unfortunately, with great arrogance and disrespect, the property managed to save a few euros and made us have a bad experience!

− The balcony is shared with tge apartment next door.. but luckily no one was staying next door while we were.

A nice stay with a not so nice host

+ Nice modern apartment with perfect location on the beach and in the village. El Cotillo is a very relaxed place, no need to pack fancy clothing. No high buildings and very genuine and friendly atmosphere.

− The owner was unempathetic and practically called us idiots in a long SMS. BIG PROBLEMS with keys. So listen carefully if you want to avoid to pay 100-200 euros. DON’T leave the keys in the keyhole inside the door, which accidentally happened to us when my husband shut the door without checking. THE ONLY WAY to open the door if this happens is with a locksmith and a new lock to a cost of minimum 100 euro. No information on this was given and according to the owner all doors in the world function like this. We ended up in a very stressful situation with a person who refuses to answer phone calls and only answer in sms when it suits her. Also felt totally blackmailed to accept her conditions. We have filed a complaint to booking about how this was handled. The sun came after lunch. The terrace is shared. People gather every day below the terrace to drink and sing to the sunset.

Wonderful stay in El Cotillo, the sunset view is fantastic.

+ I loved the location, we were in front of the beach we could see the sea from the living room and the bedroom.

− Everything was perfect. Maybe one point I wasn’t expecting is the shared terrace with neighbors but it is was not an issue at all we saw them once and they were super kind.

The south of Fuerteventura is more beautiful and better for sand beaches, we stayd at north for three days and can recom

+ The location at the beachfront is great - because it really is at the beachfront - cca 70m to the ocean. It was more expensive than other facilities nearby but was worth it. Compared to the new buildings full of apartments this still have some spirit of community, the new ones we found so sterile and anonymous. Cotillo is nice, restaurants are fine, the bay is cool. The facility had everything we needed for three days, the sunset and sunrise at the balcony is priceless.

− Even the official Fuerteventura web says the beach is naturist friendly beach but it is not - during the days everyone was wearing swimmsuits, but we were able to still get nude swimm in the morning and evening with few other being on the same wave. If you are looking for naturist beaches, travel to the south.

Comfort on the beachfront

+ Beachfront location is amazing. The bed is super comfortable and the sofa bed too. Good shower. Communication was good.

− No wine glasses. The washing machine was leaking from the filter which could’ve flooded the apartment were we not quick to respond. It was New Years and holidays so we didn’t mind that it couldn’t be resolved during our stay. Can be noisy depending on your neighbours but not the owners fault.

+ Beautiful view of the beach from balcony.. almost feet in the sand ! Close to nice restaurants and a very cozy little complex … Perfect for a little holiday

This apartment was badly let down by the cleaners as the apartment had not been cleaned.

+ the apartment is very well positioned: right on the beach front; about 500m from the bakery and small supermarket and just over 1km to some good restaurants. It is well equipped with a good fridge/freezer and a combination microwave as well as a washing machine.

− When we arrived at 18:00 we found that the apartment had not been cleaned following the previous letting, with milk in the fridge nearly 2 weeks past it’s date, not the start you want to a holiday. It took 30 mins before the very apologetic owner replied to my WhatsApp message, during which time I had tried to phone them several times. When the cleaners did arrive, at about 18:45 they didn’t have a duvet (just a cover); a bath mat; tea towels; covers for the sofa or wraps. We only knew that these items were missing when the owner agreed to a free ‘mid let’ clean and linen change a week into our holiday and the cleaners brought those items with them. We were there for two weeks and were expected to wash and dry sheets and towels in a day as there were no spare sheets or towels

Wonderful location

+ - five star location directly at the beach (more of a natural swimming pool with shallow water, perfect for children) - view from terrace - fully equipped apartment - new furniture and bathroom - well equipped kitchen - very comfy sofa - quiet (if the neighbours are) - very clean - very nice contact with attentive host - shops and restaurants in the town centre within easy walking distance - free parking available

− To be honest there isn‘t much and definitely nothing that would keep us from coming back to this nice place. But to mention something: - no privacy on the terrace which you share with your next door neighbours (they have their own part of the terrace, but there is only a low fence with gate between them) - depending on the other guests there can be a lot of party noise and especially noise from big groups of children playing until late at night - the internet didn‘t work and the mobile signal can be erratic and slow - the bed is rather on the soft side while I personally prefer harder mattresses
