"It must be us"

+ Not what we expected, or shall I say, our usual type of hotel. In fact quite unusual, however very quaint and had it's own type of charm. On entering our room (Suite Miroir d'Eau) there was an extremely long hallway, which led to a very small bathroom with a lack of shelving (no where to put toiletries, etc), then onto an alcove kitchenette (there was a coffee machine, a big +++) and our bedroom (which had a table and 2 small plastic chairs), and a nice big TV with NO English speaking channels (courtesy of the management). seriously what hotel doesn't accommodate English speaking guests. Sadly it seems to be quite prevalent in France. Breakfast was included in the cost (not optional) but served in the room, our bedroom, which I found quite distasteful. I understand the other suites had a separate eating area, which would have been much better. Actually a dining area downstairs, would have been most favorable. Breakfast consisted of a selection of breads, juice and if you wanted anything extra or different, you paid an additional cost, not good value at all. The coffee machine in the room made better coffee than what was served with breakfast. The pluses: all the staff were friendly, helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the location was excellent, walking distance to everything: restaurants, markets, cathedrals. However, as I said, 'it must be us'

Hotel Cardinal Montainge suite

+ Lovely little suite close to center of city. Lovely people

+ Not worth it. Nice enough for an average hotel. No comparison with 3 or 4 star hotels. Not well li; no special things given the price. Also Uber drivers have great difficulty finding the place.

+ Accommodating staff. Clean and very functional.

Nothing special at this price range

+ The staff are fantastic x We stayed in the Cardinal Suite; which was nice but at this price point you would expect good wi-fi and be able to stream from your phone. Afraid not x Breakfast okay and good amenities. Location is excellent. Would stay again but not in this suite.

A Curates Egg - Good in Parts

+ Central location, very quiet ,a comfortable bed and pillows , and friendly and helpful staff were the positives. On the not so positive the main light in the bathroom didn’t work, the shower door was warped so it didn’t close properly , the selection of teas extremely limited with no milk and for the facilities on offer it was quite expensive. However the experience which spoilt it for us was their 24 euros a head breakfast. This is an optional extra so if you don’t have it maybe your experience will not be spoilt! This breakfast consisted of small burnt croissants and chocoltines (pain au chocolate) , a very small bowl of mixed fruit, one small cup of frothy, thin and tasteless machine coffee and some bread. What really upset me was that when I asked for some fresh croissants and chocolatines the member of staff asked me whether I has tried them, as if to say that they might taste ok after all ! Clearly I hadn’t tried them, why would I even try to eat carcinogenic food?

Charming hotel that has it all

+ This charming hotels has it all! The property is pristine. The beds, linens and products lovely. The shower and water pressure were most welcome. All staff members were friendly and most helpful! The neighborhood around the hotel is great. There are good restaurants, bars and shops moments away AND as the hotel is on a pedestrian street, there is no traffic noise. We would highly recommend a stay at the Hotel Cardinal Bordeaux to anyone anytime.

Charming Boutique Hotel with Great Service and Location

+ We had a lovely experience at this boutique hotel. The staff was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. During our three-night visit, we explored several wineries, and their front desk helped us arrange transportation for each outing, which made our trip so much more relaxing and enjoyable. Overall, it’s a simple but comfortable hotel that offers great value. The location is excellent—within easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants.

Absolute perfection!

+ First time visiting Bordeaux staying at this lovely hotel. Walking distance to everything .We highly recommend staying here . The hotel was beautiful with excellent and attentive staff .They recommended great restaurants and things to see locally. Axel was very helpful and planned two days with private driver /sommelier for our wine tours at fabulous Chateau’s. Thomas was exceptional and we enjoyed spending time with him , very knowledgeable.Our suite at the hotel was gorgeous,spacious and luxurious ! We will be back to see you again .Au revoir for now ❤️🇫🇷

Location, Location, Location

+ Hotel is an easy Tram ride from airport. Short walk down a quiet street admiring Bordeaux Cathedral brings you to the door. Ring the bell and door will magically open. From Check-in to Check-out, our stay was quite pleasant. Breakfast in the room is quite the experience. Hotel is centrally located, an easy walk to anywhere in Bordeaux, including parks, the river, and restaurants. Management is responsive to all requests/suggestions. Our stay was simply delightful.

Very Disappointing "Hotel"

+ Very disappointing. While reading the other reviews I wonder if we were in the same hotel. Although their welcoming email offers to help book tours my three requests were never acknowledged. Very dark inside with no ammenities. The suite is very small, like a motel room with a kitchenette. AC was not cold enough. The only time we saw anyone at the front desk was when we checked in, however they did arrange for our taxi to the airport for us. The location is great, near the beautiful cathedral and very walkable to restaurants.

Top-notch experience

+ An outstanding hotel. Beautiful suites, excellent service (try room service for breakfast - white table clothes and more. The overall experience is elevated beyond the normal experience. And the cost is very reasonable. We’ll be back next May

Great Location and Wonderful Staff

+ The Hotel Cardinal is a fantastic gem in Bordeaux! The location is excellent- we were able to walk to most sites, shops and restaurants. The rooms are so quiet and the beds so comfortable we were able to sleep well. The staff is impeccable! They were so helpful for anything we needed and made great restaurant recommendations. We truly enjoyed our stay!

+ Please note that the property does not have a restaurant or bar and the limited menu is served to your room. But it is quite stylish and well located.

Amazing staff and location, would visit again!

+ I think probably the best location in Bordeaux. Right next to the beautiful and peaceful square surrounding Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux, and just a few blocks from the busier shopping streets. The staff was the best part, everyone was amazing.

Great location, friendly staff and comfortable.

+ Really great location for the hotel, we arrived at night so wasn’t the easiest to find straight away. Easy to get to everywhere either on tram or walking, great food locally. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, we were unsure whether the hotel had a restaurant as we were never told about it asked so maybe they didn’t. However we forgot our plug converters and the staff were able to lend us two plugs which was excellent. The room was lovely, not a great view out of the window, looking directly at another wall but it was nice. The only thing we thought was that the bed was made for us but not changed, we understand for the environment bedding but not be changed everyday however staying 5 days for the cost we paid the bedding should have been changed, especially the pillows. Having said that we would stay again at the hotel and we would highly recommend it for location, friendliness of staff and comfort.

Wonderful experience at Hotel El Cardinal

+ Absolutely great experience at the Hotel Cardinal. The staff was wonderful, the location is hard to beat and the room was excellent! They took great care in making sure our stay was memorable. We would definitely recommend this hotel when traveling to Bordeaux!

+ Freezing room with unproper heating system. Front desk was supposed to be staffed until 7pm, nobody there after 2 pm. Calls to the number provided and messages to the whatsapp contact provided by the property were never answered. You need to have the basics covered if you want to be a hotel, let alone a "boutique" hotel. Avoid like the plague.

Perfect stay in Bordeaux

+ Hotel Cardinal Bordeaux was just perfect. The staff, location, suite everything was amazing. Great decor, comfortable beds, great amenities (Clarins), I smelt like I was stepping out of a spa everyday. This is not a full service hotel, but the team at Hotel Cardinal go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable and nothing was left wanting with this beautiful hotel. I would definitely recommend.

Convenient location, pleasant stay

+ We stayed at the Hotel Cardinal for several nights during our visit to Bordeaux. It is conveniently located on a quiet street near a historic cathedral and walking distance to numerous restaurants, shopping streets, and public transit. Our room had a small kitchen with induction top, microwave, and refrigerator. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful with advice and directions. We did order their breakfast a couple of times, and it was quite good. We had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend.

+ Charming and very comfortable, our room had a balcony, a fantastic shower, and wonderful bedding and pillows. The only note is that the exposed beams and sloping ceiling could pose a challenge for the extra tall.

Great vacation

+ Went there with my family. The location is perfect and the staff is great. Within walking distance from the main sights and restaurants. The rooms are well decorated and comfortable. We recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

+ The hotel exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend. Staff went above and beyond in every way. The room aesthetic was beautiful, comfortable bed, great shower and towels, convenient kitchenette area. Only drawback was there is no onsite parking. Parking garage located about 5 min walk.

+ We did like the hotel, but our room had a bad small that lasted the duration of our stay (2 days) and seemed to be only in our room (not in the corridor) it seemed like a sewage smell or mouse trap. It was unfortunate as the hotel, staff and location were great otherwise.

+ This is a special property. High end boutique, personalized concierge service 24/7. Quiet property that is an oasis after walking around Bordeaux with lots of people in the streets. Rooms and suites are modernized and everything works. Really comfortable beds - I slept like a baby. Centrally located for easy access to transportation or walking to all the sights. The only suggestion I would have is for the hotel to put in a common area where one can relax outdoors with a bottle of wine. Otherwise, everything was great. I highly recommend this hotel.
