− Al hacer el check in la recepcionista fue muy fría y nos dio muy poca información, parecía que le molestaba que le preguntase. No nos ayudaron con las maletas. No hay café, ni reposición de agua en las habitaciones

El hotel es precioso a pesar de todo

+ El hotel es increíble estéticamente hablando, el personal es muy amable y las habitaciones están muy bien. Volvería aunque probablemente no en la temporada de verano. Está en una zona muy bonita y vale la pena salir por la noche a las dunas a dar un paseo y luego queda muy bien para volver caminando al hotel.

− La calidad de la comida es un poco baja, tanto del bar piscina como del desayuno, no probé los otros restaurantes y preferimos cenar fuera. Conseguir una hamaca libre es imposible porque el resto de huéspedes bajan a reservar hamacas por la mañana aunque no lleguen a la piscina hasta horas después, y nadie hace nada al respecto. Acabas recorriendo todo el hotel buscando dos hamacas libres a pesar de que en ciertos momentos del día, las piscinas no estaban muy llenas.

Hôtel incroyable au pied des dunes de sable

+ Architecture, décorations et ambiances de l’hôtel sont fantastiques. Belle piscines . Proximité de la plage et des dunes qui sont magnifiques. Possibilité de prendre le buffet du soir dans les autres hôtels du groupe.

− Chambres légèrement humides au rez de chaussée.. La grande majorité des chaises longues réservée à la piscine dès tôt le matin.

Lopesan Baobab

+ The Lopesan Baobab is an excellent family friendly hotel and has a very easy going atmosphere. The location is very good if you want to leave the hotel with a number of shops and bars very close and the shopping centre and seafront only a couple of minutes walk. The theme of this hotel is possibly its greatest attribute and you genuinely feel like you are in a far flung destination. The staff are very friendly also and very friendly with kids. Although the buffet is very good it can become very competitive if you are staying for two weeks and I would highly recommend the half board premium as it allows you to use the al la carte restaurants in the baobab and also the neighbouring Lopesan hotels which adds great variety. The rooms are of a good standard and kept very well by the housekeeping staff but probably a little bit dark but again this is part of the theme of the hotel so can’t really be criticised. The tvs in the room are outdated however and it would be great if they were upgraded to allow the use of Disney+, Netflix etc as you would expect from a 5 star hotel if you do want to put a movie on for the kids to relax. Another item that could be improved is a slightly more expansive offering at the pool bars. All in all an excellent resort and well worth visiting.

Wow factor hotel, really enjoyable stay!

+ Impressive hotel, great room, food choices and friendly, efficient staff. Design/aesthetics and multiple pools a real plus. Nice resort location. Previously stayed at the Lopesan Melonaras and really enjoyed both, we particularly loved the African vibes of the Baobab though. There is a wow factor from the minute you arrive and check in. Only minor niggle was to be by the large lazy river pool you have to reserve beds fairly early, appreciate it was peak season though and we did see staff leaving notes re this. Really enjoyable stay, would return!

Incredible

+ The hotel was amazing. Like the pictures. Huge and incredible. African vibes and with the “pool river” in the middle. Super cleaned room, super diverse breakfast, lots of activities. We loved every moment. And the magic show was out of this world!

− The swimming pool opens too late (10am - at 8/9am it’s already super hot) and closes too soon (6pm, it should be like 8pm); The lifeguards start asking people to leave the pool before the closing time; close to the restaurant’s closing time, the staff also will not allow you to eat there (e.g., we arrived at 8:35pm and they told us that we could not eat at one of the restaurants because it would close at 9pm). That’s not okay; The restaurants close too early for dinner (one at 9pm and another at 9:30pm). It should be until 10:30pm. In addition, when you pay for lunch/dinner be careful because drinks are not included (and that information was never passed to us!) when the price is already quite expensive. Drinks should be already included. Plus, you have to pay for the drinks before you finish your own dinner. For us it was a bit rude that our dinner was interrupted to pay for the drinks; The gym does not have AC or it’s not working properly. It’s really difficult to work out there because it’s too hot; Finally, some people make a lot of noise at night and hit their doors really hard (but that’s not the hotel’s fault, of course); Ah, and one time we did not want our room cleaned and we left the “Do not Disturb” warning hanged and the cleaning ladies still cleaned it. Also, a heads-up to the fact that all the loungers around the “river pool” to be super full even before the time the swimming pool opens. You have to put your towel there before but then the staff gives you a warning which does not make sense since it’s impossible to get a place… Just an info: if you’re not having dinner all days in the hotel, you have to go every day to the reception to say want to have dinner there on that day. It’s a bit annoying and sometimes the queues are big.

+ We ate at La Brasa del Pili and were served by the amazing Pablo and Marty ! They were lovely and the food was outstanding! Definitely worth the visit

Our 4th retern

+ We have reterned again! The hotel has not changed one bit since we last came back. Food great lots of options and you can book to eat at sister hotels like Costa Melanores that we ate at. The food was as good maybe better. The rooms were lovly and we got a swim up and it was a lot of fun. The pools were amazing the lazy river is our favourite. A few things that where a little bit dissapointing... In the room some of our wooden panels were stained black due to water staining through from the shower room. Also in the family room you had 1 bedside table so you had to use chairs as them. At the pools some tiles have fallen off and need replacing and you can cut your fingers. All of this can be easily changed and didnt impact our holiday. The panchi shows are great for young audiences along with the main show after for older children. I really recommend this to you as it is a great hotel. I will be comming back.

Muy bonito, pero decepcionante

− El buffet deja mucho que desear para ser un hotel de cinco estrellas: poca variedad y muy repetitivo. En una semana no ha habido a penas pollo o pavo en las comidas /cenas y ningún día, opción de huevo. Fuera de buffet, solo un restaurante dentro del complejo. Sin aire acondicionado ni ventiladores. Tema tumbonas… lamentable la educación de la gente. Ocupando todas las tumbonas desde primera hora y no apareciendo hasta bien entrada la mañana.

+ 1st full day in the hotel and had a lit if money go missing from our bag. Only cleaners been in the room. Arranged flight to go home as no enough left to stay and no trust.

A nice hotel with a few bits to improve

+ Overall we had a great 10 days at the Baobab. If I could give it a 4.5 I would, but there’s a few bits just holding it back compared to other 5* resorts we’ve stayed at. 5* worthy: - stunning African themed buildings and interiors - excellent varied food in the buffet - fantastic lazy river pool - great cocktails (and reasonable prices ~€10-13) - very friendly staff - largely good entertainment in the evening, the circus act was great! Not quite 5* worthy: - not enough sun loungers (we arrived after our 9am breakfast on our first day to find no spare loungers. From then on it was the dreaded routine of one of us being up at 8 to save some. Really didn’t want to, management left notes to discourage it, but there wasn’t an alternative - so it really was a case of if you can’t beat them, join them. Lots of hotels suffer from this but there’s got to be a better system to avoid me getting up at 7.30 every day on my holiday). We also found the loungers really tightly packed, not much space to spread out. - collecting payment for drinks when I’ve just started eating! Every day at the buffet restaurant, the waiting staff came for payment 2 mins after bringing the wine, I was usually mid-eating and hadn’t even tasted my wine! Felt rushed and intrusive (although staff were always courteous and friendly) and not like a 5* meal experience. Just come at the end like a normal restaurant?! - no à la carte restaurants included in half board (don’t think this was clear when booking via our agent). Luckily the buffet was fairly varied, and great quality, but we did miss some à la carte nights to mix it up. - room was ok but no more. Very dark and had a bit of a damp smell. Only 2 balcony chairs in a room for 4. Would definitely recommend a pool view room vs those looking out to the road! - Pools were great but had quite a few missing tiles and lots of sand in them from the faux beach parts of the pool areas. + L’emplacement et la deco étaient au top! Assez de piscines donc pas de problèmes de transat et au pire s’il y en a pas! Y a assez d espace pour pouvoir se mettre avec sa serviette quelque part ! Même si c’était complet on sentait pas que les pisicine étaient en surcharge ! Annimation de qualité après ça dépend des soirs ! Le buffet était bien aussi avec un petit buffet pour les enfants ou y avait burger , hot dog….

− Certaines animations affichées sur le prof n’ont pas été respectés comme la mousse party Le teen club malheureusement aussi ne respectaient pas trop le programme Y avait pas de quoi occuper des pré-adolescent! Mais l équipe fait est sympathique mais bon! À part le foot qui faisait plaisir à mon fils ! Le reste rien! Le buffet était presque le même chaque jour avec des toutes petits variations Et bien sûr vu le prix les boissons devraient être incluses mais non! On paie les boissons en supplément

Reposant!

+ Superbe décoration, beaucoup de verdure, plusieurs piscines, le monde ne se fait pas sentir car pleins de petits recoins. Buffets très bon. Personnel très souriant et avenant.

Great staff, and a great hotel/holiday experience

+ This is our second time returning, we love it here, the staff are all fantastic and enthusiastic which really adds to the feel of the place. They work hard to be efficient and create a seamlessly perfect environment for guests at all times. The setting makes it feel like a relaxed nightclub retreat without the nightclub, mood lighting, waterfall sounds, it’s such a vibe. Then during the day I can’t help but have the Jurassic Park theme in my head with its gran entrance. We stayed in a standard room and requested to be facing the sister hotel by email in advance (aim for the 3rd floor!), these rooms don’t count as a view but in my opinion they are better than the view ones which face inwards and cost more. You can see the see and the other hotel has a pretty entrance. Plus you get a decent amount of sun on the balcony. Food I’ve seen some mixed reviews, which personally I don’t get. With all inclusive it’s always tricky trying to please everyone. There is always a superb range to choose from, everything actually has flavour too, nothing is bland, great salads, fresh meat cooked in front of you, fresh fish choices every day. If you aren’t impressed I’d be surprised. The smoked salmon at breakfast when it’s there is delicious 😋 The only change I would like to see brought in is tea and coffee be available at every meal not just breakfast. This would be a huge benefit to guests and I strongly think it’s something that should be reviewed. I see a lot of negative reviews about no drinks included (except breakfast) and this would be such a quick win for the hotel to have the machines out at all meals to remedy it. We took part in a new activity which was fabulous, wine and painting (Thursday 3pm - you have to sign up in advance), it was no extra cost and great fun. The staff and everyone had great fun, so well done for introducing something different. Even better yet my mother and I won best paintings and got a free cocktail each! I nearly forgot to mention there are
