Almería has more than three hundred kilometers of coastline, but it is worth knowing that the city and the province work quite differently when it comes to finding accommodation. To get there, the most convenient option is to fly to Almería airport, which is about ten kilometers from the city, or take an AVE train to the high-speed station, which connects with Madrid in about five hours. Once there, getting around by rental car is almost essential if you want to explore the coast or the interior; the urban bus works well in the capital, but connections between villages are scarce and slow. Before booking, check carefully whether the accommodation has parking, because in the center of Almería and in the park villages parking can be a nightmare. Also check whether the kitchen is equipped so you can cook some meals, and whether cancellation is flexible, because the weather on the coast can change your plans.
