ibis Caen Centre

+ The room was quite small, with very little unpacking space (no drawers), so we largely lived out of our suitcases for the three days we were there. We came back in the middle of the first day to find the doors were locked: a sign on the door told us that access was via reception of the hotel next door. On making our way through the dimly-lit ground floor public areas, we discovered no electricity anywhere in the hotel, so of course, the lift was out of order. Using the stairs wasn't a problem for us, but it would have been for someone with disabilities or with small children. Possibly this was due to a local issue, but we never found out. Though we didn't have any repeat of the power problem, we did come back to find the front doors locked a second time, with reception in the dark and unstaffed. In general, there was a feeling that it was all very Spartan and understaffed. Housekeeping service was excellent.

+ Chambre confortable, literie excellente, éclairage bien conçu pour lire sans déranger l’autre dormeur. Petit déjeuner complet et délicieux. Juste un problème : la sortie de douche glissante quand les pieds sont mouillés. C’est vraiment dangereux pour les gens âgés.

+ I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. Upon arrival, I was immediately charged for breakfast—despite not having eaten it and explicitly stating that I did not want it. When I raised the issue via email, I received no response. Furthermore, despite requesting a meeting with the manager, I never heard back, and no explanation was provided. The receptionist failed to understand the issue entirely. At check-out, I had to prove that I had not consumed any breakfast during my stay and that my credit card had been charged without authorization. The level of negligence and lack of accountability was astonishing. Additionally, access to the hotel in the evening is only possible through the nearby Mercure Hotel, which is not clearly communicated. When I inquired at reception about whether the bar was open, I was met with a shockingly rude response. Instead of a courteous answer, I was told that if I didn’t like it, I could go into town and find a bar myself if I wanted a soft drink. I find the receptionist's attitude and tone completely unacceptable. Overall, my experience at the Ibis Hotel in Caen was overwhelmingly negative, and I strongly advise others to avoid staying there if possible.

Eccellente café da manhã

+ Padrão Ibis, roupa de cama e toalhas simples, mas limpas. A TV simplesmente não funcionava, achamos que era o controle remoto. Fomos até a recepção para trocar as pilhas, mas não adiantou. Achamos o café da manhã excepcional. A localização é ótima para visitar as atrações turísticas a pé. Achamos muito divertido jogar pinball, que era cortesia para os hóspedes. No geral, uma boa estadia.

+ La première chambre attribuée ne correspondait pas à notre demande de lit. Le seconde chambre était glaciale au sol et surchauffée au plafond. Porte coulissante SDB chambre ne permet pas d’intimité rien pour poser les trousses de toilettes et les crochets pour suspendre les serviettes sont à 2,50 m de la douche ! Les œufs brouillés étaient froids etc etc

+ Price was right. Off season. Very small room with two twin beds. Sufficient to sleep in. Not sufficient for sitting in. Nice lobby with shared space with Mercure hotel. Amy was super helpful. We walked right next door to great restaurant. Le Bustrodome was recommended. Excellent food and service. Underground free parking too. Great find.

+ Séjour convenable mais une odeurs de renfermé dans la chambre et le rideau de douche sale pas du tout à l'image de la salle de réception qui plutôt cosy et sens bon!

Perfect hotel!

+ Lovely hotel. Extra friendly staff who spoke good English. I asked for an iron and was given one straight away. In the middle of the city by the port. Perfect for exploring and shopping. I will be returning and have already recommended to others.

Nice hotel, close to city centre

+ The hotel is right in the centre of Caen, convenient location close to restaurants and bars. The room we had was quite small, but clean and comfortable. There is parking under the hotel so very convenient but its expensive, the spaces are small and we couldn't open the car boot fully with the low ceiling in parts of the car park.

+ Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Arrived during thunderstorm, tired and hungry. Details when booking had said room service was available for hot meals and cold snacks. Asked on arrival and told there was no food or even a hot drink available so were directed to nearby restaurant. Had to walk in pouring rain to get food. Would not use again

+ Standard ibis. Room as expected. Clean with comfortable bed and linens. Excellent central location. Lidl only a few minutes walk along Marina and river. Historic sights easy walking distances. Train about 20 min.

Ideal overnight stop

+ Great overnight stop when travelling through France

+ Great location, expensive for size of the room. No shower gel in the dispenser and house keeping did nothing during our 2 night stay other than change the wet towels.
