If you are looking at apartments in Cazorla, the first thing you should know is that the offer is divided between the town centre and the nearby villages, and each option has its advantages. Within the town, staying near the plaza de Santa María or calle Muñoz Cerezo allows you to walk to the bars, the market and the viewpoints without depending on the car. Of course, the streets are steep and many old homes do not have a lift, so if you are travelling with elderly people or with a pushchair, it is worth asking about the floor and the access. In the lower area, next to the río Cerezuelo, you will find more modern apartments with fewer slopes, although you will have to go up a bit to reach the historic centre.

Outside the core, villages such as La Iruela, Burunchel or El Chorro offer tranquillity and views of the sierra, but in exchange for depending on the vehicle for everything. La Iruela, two kilometres away, is the most practical option if you want to be near the castle and the hiking routes without the bustle of the town. Burunchel, about ten minutes away, is ideal for switching off, but bear in mind that at night there is not much atmosphere and that the supermarkets close early. If what you are looking for is nature, the apartments in the area of the parque natural, towards the nacimiento del Guadalquivir, are the best located for getting up early and walking without crossing paths with anyone.

As for the price, the low season (from November to March, except bank holidays) is when you find nights from 65 euros, and the average for the year is around 88. If you can, avoid Semana Santa and the weekends in October, which is when they rise the most. To get there, the usual way is to drive from Jaén or Úbeda along the A-319; there is no train or direct bus from Madrid, so the car is almost essential for moving between the villages and the car parks in the centre, which are limited. Before booking, check whether the apartment includes heating (in winter it is really cold), whether it allows pets and whether the kitchen has a dishwasher or washing machine, because in many cases they only bring the basics. It is also worth looking at the photos of the entrance and the bathroom, which tend to be the areas that deceive the most.
