Málaga capital offers more than four thousand five hundred tourist apartments, which makes it a destination with a very broad and varied offer. The average price is around 199 euros per night, although you can find options from 68 euros if you search in advance or travel in low season. The average category of these accommodations is 3.4 stars, so don't expect widespread great luxury, but you will find good value for money if you choose well.

When deciding on the area, first think about what kind of trip you are going to take. The historic center, around calle Larios and the Catedral, is ideal if you want to walk to almost everything: bars, shops, museums and the tapas area of calle Granada. Here the apartments tend to be smaller and with less light, but you are in the middle of the action. If you prefer quiet and being close to the sea, la Malagueta or el Soho are good alternatives: ten minutes on foot from the center and with a seafront promenade. The neighborhood of Pedregalejo or El Palo, further east, offer charming apartments near the beach and chiringuitos, but you will need a bus or car to go to the center. To the west, areas such as Carretera de Cádiz or Huelin are cheaper and more functional, with good metro and bus connections, although less touristy.

As for the price, the difference between high and low season is notable. June, July and August are the most expensive months, and also Semana Santa and the December long weekend. If you can, travel in May, September or early October: the weather is still good and prices drop quite a bit. To get there, the Málaga airport is about twenty minutes from the center by Cercanías train or city bus, with a cost of a few euros. Once there, the center is easy to get around on foot, and to move to the beach or more distant neighborhoods, the metro and the bus network cover almost everything. If you plan to take excursions to towns such as Ronda or Nerja, renting a car is worth it, but keep in mind that parking in the center is expensive and complicated.

Before booking, always check whether the apartment includes air conditioning, because in summer it is almost essential, and whether the building has an elevator, especially if you are on upper floors. Also check whether the final price includes cleaning, tourist taxes or bed linen, because sometimes they are not included and make the stay more expensive. Read recent reviews from other guests, especially those that talk about noise, the condition of the furniture or the host's attention. And if you travel as a group, pay attention to the real number of beds and whether there are two bathrooms, because in many apartments the second bedroom is very small. Finally, look at the cancellation policy: non-refundable rates are cheaper, but if your plans may change, it is worth paying a little more for flexibility.
