If you are looking at houses in Candeleda, the first thing you should know is that the offer is concentrated in two well-differentiated areas. On the one hand, the town centre, where you will find renovated village houses, with stone walls and exposed beams, ideal if you want to walk to the bars, the market or the plaza. On the other, the slopes rising towards the Sierra de Gredos, where the houses usually have a garden, private pool or views of the Tiétar valley; there the price goes up, but so does the peace and quiet. If you are looking for nature without giving up services, the El Raso area, about five kilometres away, is a cheaper alternative with direct access to hiking routes.

The main difference between some houses and others is not only the location, but also the type of construction and the services. Traditional holiday homes (there are 45 in the listing) are usually complete dwellings with a equipped kitchen and space for groups; the apartments (40) are smaller and more practical for couples or small families. The guest houses (5) and the hotels (4) work better if you don't want to cook, and the villas (2) are the most spacious and expensive, designed for long stays or celebrations. The months of July and August are the most expensive and in highest demand; if you can, travel in May, June or September, when the weather is good for the countryside and prices drop considerably. To get there, the most comfortable way is by car: from Madrid it is about two and a half hours along the A-5 to Talavera and then along the AV-941. If you come by bus, there are lines from Madrid and Ávila, but then you will need a taxi or a rental car to get around, because the houses furthest from the centre do not have public transport. Before confirming, check whether the price includes final cleaning, bed linen and towels, and whether there is a security deposit; it is also worth asking about the cancellation policy, because many rural houses require a deposit and do not refund the money if you cancel at short notice.
