Hotels and places to stay in Aínsa

Aínsa is not a large town, but the difference between staying within the historic center and staying in the lower area or on the access roads is notable. The old town, with its arcaded square and cobbled streets, is quiet day and night, but parking is complicated and expensive if you do not have a reservation at a hotel with its own parking space. If you come by car, it is advisable to look at accommodations on the road out towards Boltaña or in the Cinca river area, where parking is easier and you usually find larger apartments for the same price. The distance to the center is no more than a ten-minute walk, so you do not lose anything in comfort.

Apartments are the majority option in the current offer: there are 35 compared to 11 hotels, and that is noticeable in the way you travel. If you are looking for independence to cook or to come and go at any time, an apartment gives you more flexibility. Hotels, on the other hand, solve breakfast and reception for you, which you appreciate if you go with children or if the plan is to do mountain routes and return late. There are also four vacation homes, designed for large groups, and a couple of more economical guesthouses. The average category of the whole is 3.3 stars, so do not expect great luxuries: what prevails is functionality and proximity to the surroundings.

As for prices, the range goes from 105 euros per night in the most basic to an average of 154 euros. That means that in high season (July and August, especially) prices rise and it is advisable to book weeks in advance. If you can, travel in May, June, or September: the weather is good for hiking and accommodations drop quite a bit. To get there, the most practical is the car: from Barbastro it takes about 45 minutes via the A-138, and from Huesca capital a little over an hour. There is no train, and the bus is scarce, so if you do not drive, consider combining with a taxi from Barbastro. Once there, everything is done on foot, but if you stay on the outskirts you will need the car to go to the supermarket or the pools.

Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has heating or air conditioning (in winter it is really cold), whether parking is included or paid separately, and whether cancellation is flexible. Many apartments require a 30% deposit and do not refund anything if you cancel less than a week in advance. It is also advisable to check whether the price includes bed linen and towels, because in some vacation homes they are charged as an extra. With that clear, you will get it right.
