Hotels and places to stay in Luarca

Luarca, in western Asturias, is one of those places where it's worth thinking carefully about where you stay before you arrive. The town is divided into two clear areas: the historic center, around the port and the church of Santa Eulalia, and the new area, which extends toward the beach of Luarca and the main road. In the old town you'll find narrow streets, cider bars, and the atmosphere of a fishing village; it's ideal if you want to walk everywhere and don't mind the noise on weekends. The beach and promenade area is quieter, with sea views and direct access to the sand, but the distances to the center are somewhat greater, although perfectly manageable on foot. If you come by car, keep in mind that parking in the old town can be complicated; many accommodations offer parking, but it's worth confirming before booking.

Prices vary quite a bit depending on the season. In summer, especially in August, the 49 available accommodations fill up quickly and the average price rises to 147 euros per night, with the lowest at 76 euros. In spring and autumn, prices drop considerably, and if you come on weekdays outside long weekends, you can find interesting deals. Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has an elevator (many old buildings don't), whether the price includes bed linens and towels in the apartments, and whether there's a free cancellation option, because the weather on the coast changes quickly and you may have to adjust your plans. Also check whether the establishment is on a pedestrian street, because hauling suitcases over cobblestones isn't fun.
