Hotels and places to stay in Prades

Prades is located in the Baix Camp region, at about 950 metres of altitude, in the heart of the sierra of the same name. When choosing accommodation, it is worth distinguishing between the old town and the lower part of the village. The old town, with cobbled streets and arcaded squares, is where most of the apartments and guest houses are concentrated; staying here lets you walk to the bars, the church of Santa Maria and the viewpoint. The lower area, near the access road and the sports centre, has easier parking and tends to be quieter, although you will have to walk uphill to reach the centre. If you are looking for absolute silence, the holiday homes scattered on the outskirts, such as Cal Pons or CAN LLORENÇ, are a good option, but you will need a car for everything.

The main difference between one area and another is access and noise. In summer, Prades fills up with visitors who come to cool off, and the old town can be bustling at night, especially in August. In spring and autumn, by contrast, the village regains its calm and prices drop noticeably. If your priority is budget, avoid the weekends in July and August, when demand sends rates soaring; on weekdays, outside high season, you can find rooms from 63 euros per night, although the municipal average is around 165 euros. Most of the accommodations are apartments (there are 11 in total), followed by holiday homes and the occasional hotel or bed and breakfast, so the type of stay also affects the price: apartments tend to be cheaper per night if you are travelling as a group.

To get there, the most practical option is by car. From Reus or Tarragona, take the T-704 road to Falset and then the T-710, which climbs in winding fashion up to Prades; the journey takes about 45 minutes from Reus. There is no direct train or bus, so if you do not have a vehicle, you will have to combine a bus to Falset and then a taxi. Once there, getting around on foot is the most sensible thing, because the village is small and the distances are short, although the slopes are steep. Before booking, check whether the accommodation has a garage space or free parking nearby, because parking in the old town is difficult. It is also worth confirming whether heating is included in winter, since at that altitude the nights are cold, and whether the apartments have a dishwasher or wifi, because not all of them offer it. Finally, look at the cancellation conditions: many holiday homes require payment in advance and do not refund if you cancel at short notice.
