Hotels and places to stay in Riumar

Riumar is a coastal village in the municipality of Deltebre, at the mouth of the Ebro. There are no large hotels or chains here; what you'll find are eight accommodations, including holiday homes, apartments, and a villa, with an average price of 224 euros per night and a minimum of 128. Most are four-star, so the quality standard is fairly consistent. If you're looking for peace and direct contact with the beach, it's a good choice, but it's worth knowing how the area is laid out before choosing.

The area is divided into two practical zones: the beachfront and the interior of the town center. The accommodations next to the promenade, such as the Apartamento en la playa de Riumar or Casa Uly, let you walk to the sand without crossing any roads, something you'll appreciate if you're traveling with children or elderly people. On the other hand, the more inland options, such as Eco tourist or Allotjament Joana, tend to be on quiet streets with a garden or terrace, and sometimes have more outdoor space for the same price. The main difference is noise: on the beachfront there's more activity in summer, while inland you'll barely hear anything except the wind.

As for prices, high season (July and August) sends rates soaring, and there's usually not much room for negotiation. If you can, look at the weeks in June or September: the water is still fine and prices drop noticeably, sometimes down to the minimum of 128 euros. To get there, the most practical option is by car: from Barcelona it's about two hours on the AP-7 and then the regional road to Deltebre. Public transport exists, but it's scarce and infrequent, so I wouldn't recommend it as your main plan. Once there, everything is less than ten minutes away on foot, although you'll need a vehicle to go shopping or visit the Delta.

Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has air conditioning (in August it's almost essential), whether the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking (eating out in Riumar is limited and expensive in season), and whether the final cleaning is included or charged separately, because in houses and apartments it's usually an extra 30 to 60 euros. Also check whether the parking space is private or on the street, because in August the town fills up and parking can be a headache. With that clear, the choice between the four houses, the three apartments, or the villa will depend only on whether you prefer space, proximity to the water, or a bit of both.
