When looking for accommodation in A Coruña, the first thing you should be clear about is that the city is divided into several areas with very distinct personalities. The historic center and the Marina area are ideal if you want to walk to almost everything: Plaza de María Pita, the Tower of Hercules, or the tapas bars in the old town. Here you will mainly find apartments and guesthouses, with a livelier atmosphere and, in summer, a bit more noise. If you prefer peace and quiet and the beach, the Riazor or Orzán area lets you sleep a step away from the promenade, although to get to the center you will have to walk about twenty minutes or take a city bus. The Monte Alto neighborhood is another more economical and authentic option, but with steep slopes that not everyone handles well.

The main difference between one area and another lies in the balance between price, comfort, and atmosphere. Before booking, check if the accommodation has an elevator, because many old buildings do not have one, and confirm whether the price includes cleaning or tourist taxes, which are sometimes added at the end.
