Hotels and places to stay in Mojácar

Mojácar has more than three hundred and forty accommodation options, so the decision is not easy. Most of them, two hundred and fifty-five, are apartments, followed by holiday homes, hotels, guest houses, villas and some aparthotels. The average price is around 185 euros per night, but you can find rooms or studios from 73 euros if you have flexibility with dates. The average category of the establishments is 3.7 stars, which gives you an idea that functional and well-located accommodations predominate rather than luxury.

When choosing an area, you have to distinguish between the old town, the beach area and the road that connects both. The old town, perched on the hill, is ideal if you are looking for atmosphere, narrow streets, bars and restaurants, and you do not mind walking up slopes. There you will find guest houses and some boutique hotels, such as Boutique Hotel El Olivar, which tend to have charm but less parking. The beach area, especially the promenade and the nearby developments, concentrates most of the apartments, such as those of Best Club Vacaciones Pueblo Indalo, and is the best option if you are travelling with children or want to walk to the sand. The road that goes up to the town, with scattered developments, offers holiday homes and villas with a pool, such as Casaflor or El Gran González Viviendas con Fines Turísticos, but you definitely need a car to get around.

As for prices, July and August are the most expensive months and have the least availability. If you can, travel in May, June or September: the weather is still good for the beach and prices drop quite a bit. Spring and autumn weekends are also good for finding deals, especially on apartments. To get there, the most practical thing is to fly to Almería (about 80 kilometres away) or to Murcia (about 90) and rent a car. There is a bus from Almería, but it is slow and limits you for getting around the coast. Once there, a car is almost essential if you stay outside the town or the beach, because the distances between areas are not long but the slopes and the heat make walking inadvisable.

Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has a pool or direct access to the beach (not all apartments do), whether the price includes final cleaning and bed linen (some holiday homes charge extra for this), and whether there is included or paid parking. It is also worth looking at recent reviews about noise, because in the old town there is a lot of nightlife and on the beach, depending on the development, there may be construction work or very quiet communities. Always compare the total price with fees included, because in Mojácar it is common for the price per night not to include cleaning or energy in houses and villas.
