Walking Tour of Split and Diocletian's Palace - Small Group Tour

Among many other things, you'll learn about how Diocletian went from a nobody to the most powerful man in the world.

Itinerary

1. The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace · 15 min

   Central square of Diocletian's palace, from which you can get to almost all other locations within the palace.

2. Vestibulum of Diocletian's Palace · 5 min

   See the vestibule of emperor Diocletian, where you'll learn about it's history and potentially hear traditional Dalmatian singing.

3. Diocletian Palace Substructures · 10 min

   Go through the substructures of Diocletian's Palace, where you'll learn about the history of it's construction and their function over the ages. Note, we won't visit the museum part of the substructures, and you can visit it after the tour.

4. The Golden Gate · 10 min

   Main entrance of Diocletian's Palace, where you'll learn about it and see the statue of Gregory of Nin, and learn his importance to our history and language.

5. Riva Harbor · 15 min

   See a bronze model of the Diocletian's Palace, and learn about the history of Split's beautiful Riva promenade.

6. Fruit's Square (Trg Brace Radic) · 10 min

   Learn about an 15-century Venetian citadel and the importance of Marko Marulić, the father of Croatian literature.

7. Split Synagogue · 10 min

   Pass by the 16-century Synagogue and learn about the history of the Jewish people in the city of Split.
