Excursions with locals
Adeje has the largest supply of apartments in southern Tenerife, with 1364 accommodations of this type in the municipality. Most are spread between Costa Adeje, Playa del Duque, Torviscas and La Caleta, and each area has its own character. Costa Adeje is the most extensive and practical: supermarkets, pharmacies and bus stops nearby, with dark sand beaches and a seafront promenade that connects to Torviscas. Playa del Duque is quieter and more polished, with golden sand and mid-to-high-priced restaurants; the apartments are usually in developments with gardens and a pool, five to ten minutes' walk from the beach. Torviscas is the liveliest, with a British atmosphere, bars and shops, ideal if you're looking for activity without leaving the complex. La Caleta, to the west, is the most exclusive and peaceful, with natural coves and fewer services around; it's a good choice if you rent a car.
Prices vary quite a bit depending on the area and the season. The average price is around 184 euros per night, but you can find options from 88 euros, especially in Torviscas or in older apartments in Costa Adeje. If you travel in May, June, September or early October, prices drop compared with winter and the weather is still good. At Christmas and Easter is when they rise the most, so booking two or three months in advance makes the difference. It's also worth checking whether the price includes final cleaning, wifi or pool use, because some complexes charge for these separately.
To get there, Tenerife South airport is about twenty minutes away by car. A taxi costs between 25 and 35 euros depending on the area, and bus 450 or 467 leaves you in Costa Adeje for about 5 euros, although with stops and more time. To get around the municipality, the bus works well between Torviscas, Duque and La Caleta, but if you want to go to more distant beaches or inland, a rental car is almost essential. Before booking, check the building's average rating (3.1 stars on average in Adeje) and recent comments about noise, the condition of the furniture or pool maintenance. Examples such as Marazul del Sur, Apartment Calle Madrid, Costa Adeje Luxury Mango or Tinerfe Garden Adeje give you an idea of the variety: from simple blocks to developments with services. Also check whether the apartment has a lift, air conditioning or heating, because in winter the nights can be cool.
The average price is around 184 euros per night, although you can find options from 88 euros in low season or in less central areas. Prices rise notably at Christmas, Easter and in August.
May, June, September and October are the most balanced months: pleasant heat, fewer crowds and lower rates than in winter. July and August are hot and more expensive, while December and January have good weather but high prices because of the holidays.
If you want atmosphere and services nearby, Torviscas or central Costa Adeje. For peace and better-kept beaches, Playa del Duque. La Caleta is the best if you prefer quiet and nature, but you need a car for everything.
From Tenerife South, bus 450 or 467 leaves you in Costa Adeje for about 5 euros, and a taxi costs between 25 and 35 euros. Within Adeje, the buses connect the main beaches, but to go to secluded coves or inland, renting a car is the most practical option.
Check whether the price includes final cleaning, towels, wifi and pool use, because some complexes charge for these separately. Also look at the cancellation policy, the security deposit and whether there is a 24-hour reception or only limited check-in hours.
