Blanes has 154 apartments available on HotelsCasa, with an average price of 187 euros per night and a minimum of 47. Most are concentrated in three well-differentiated areas. The town center, around the port and the rambla, is the most practical if you don't want to depend on a car: you have supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants and the beach of Blanes less than ten minutes' walk away. The apartments here tend to be older, but also cheaper and with more life around them. The second area is S'Abanell, the long beach that runs south: here the buildings are more modern, many with a pool and on the seafront promenade. It's ideal if you're traveling with children or if you prefer not to cross streets to reach the sand. The downside is that in high season the nighttime noise can be annoying if your apartment faces the promenade.
The third area, and the one most sought after by those who want peace and quiet, is the upper part, toward the parque de la Selva and the mirador de Sant Joan. There the apartments are usually in residential developments with gardens, a communal pool and sea or mountain views. Of course, you need a car or a good uphill walk to get down to the center. There are also options on the carretera de Tordera and in the outskirts, which are the cheapest, but they are designed for getting around by private vehicle. If what you're looking for is nature, the area of the acantilados de Santa Cristina, to the north, has some charming villas and apartments, although the offer is limited and they book up in advance.
As for prices, the difference between high and low season is notable. July and August are the most expensive months, with averages exceeding 200 euros per night on the front line. If you can, travel in June or September: the sea is still at a good temperature, there are fewer crowds and prices drop between 30 and 40 percent. The months of April, May and October are the best if you're looking for the minimum rate of 47 euros, although then some restaurants and beach bars are closed. To get there, the most comfortable option is the R1 commuter train from Barcelona, which leaves you at the Blanes station, about fifteen minutes' walk from the center. If you come by car, the C-32 highway takes you directly there, but in August the accesses to the seafront promenade get congested. To get around town, most of the apartments are less than half an hour's walk from the beaches, and there are urban buses that connect the upper residential developments with the center every twenty minutes.
Before booking, check three things: whether the apartment has an elevator (many old buildings don't and upper floors are expensive in summer), whether the pool is communal or private (communal ones usually close in September), and whether the price includes bed linen and towels, because some establishments charge for them separately. It's also worth looking at recent reviews about noise and the condition of the appliances, especially in the buildings in S'Abanell. And if you're traveling as a group, compare the price per person: sometimes a three-bedroom apartment in the upper area works out better than two studios in the center. Real examples of what you can find are LG Plaza Merida, Apartamentos AR Isern, AR Apartaments Camps or Vivalidays Angels - Blanes - Costa Brava, each in a different area and with different features.
The average price is around 187 euros per night, but you can find options from 47 euros. The lowest prices appear in April, May and October, outside the high season of July and August.
The beach of S'Abanell is the most suitable because it has wide sand, a flat promenade and many apartments with a pool on the front line. Of course, choose a building that doesn't face directly onto the promenade if you want to avoid nighttime noise.
You have an R1 line commuter train that leaves from Barcelona and takes about an hour and a quarter. The Blanes station is about fifteen minutes' walk from the center and the main beach.
In the center you have everything on foot, but the buildings are older and there's more bustle. In the upper area you gain peace and quiet, views and a pool, but you need a car or to walk up slopes to get down to the beach.
Check whether the price includes sheets, towels and final cleaning, because some establishments charge for them separately. Also look at whether there's an elevator, whether the pool is open on your travel date and the cancellation policy, especially if you book well in advance.
