Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura, is one of those places where accommodation makes a big difference between a peaceful holiday and constant coming and going. The offer of apartments is wide, with 741 accommodations of this type available, and most are concentrated in three well-differentiated areas. The town centre, around avenida Juan Carlos I and the pedestrian streets, is ideal if you want to walk to bars, restaurants and supermarkets, although nighttime noise can be somewhat more noticeable. The port area and the seafront promenade, where there are examples such as the central luminous cute studio by the beach & harbour, offers a balance between proximity to services and sea views, but it is usually the most expensive. Finally, the El Campanario area and the surroundings of Las Clavellinas beach is more residential and quiet, perfect if you are looking for rest and do not mind walking ten or fifteen minutes to the centre.
The main difference between some areas and others is not only in the price, but in the atmosphere. In the centre and the port you will find more activity, terraces and social life, while towards the interior or towards the south of the town the apartments are usually larger and with better pools, as is the case with the Apartamento Corralejo or the BEACH & POOL. If you are travelling as a family or as a couple looking for calm, the El Campanario area will suit you better; if what you want is to go out for dinner without taking the car, stay near calle Eusebio Carballo II, where there are several complexes with good value for money. As for prices, the lowest you will find is around 69 euros per night, and the average is 116 euros, with an average category of three stars. The months of May, June and September are usually the cheapest outside the height of summer, and also November, as long as it does not coincide with long weekends.
To get there, the usual thing is to fly to Fuerteventura airport, about 40 minutes by car, or to Lanzarote and take the ferry from Playa Blanca, which takes about 25 minutes and leaves you at the port of Corralejo. Once there, getting around in a rental car is the most comfortable if you want to visit the Parque Natural de las Dunas or go down to Sotavento beach, although for the centre and the nearby beaches you can walk without any problem. Before booking, it is worth checking whether the apartment includes air conditioning, because many only have a fan, and also whether the kitchen is fully equipped or only has the basics. Check recent reviews about pool or street noise, and confirm whether the final price includes cleaning and taxes, because sometimes they do not appear at first glance.
The average price is around 116 euros per night, although you can find options from 69 euros if you book in advance or in low season. Most apartments are three-star, so the price usually includes basic services such as a pool and wifi.
May, June and September are the best months, because it is warm but there is not the crowding of July and August, and prices drop compared with summer. November is also a good option if you do not mind the sea water being cooler.
The town centre or the seafront promenade are the best options, because you have supermarkets, restaurants and the beach less than ten minutes away on foot. If you stay in El Campanario or further south, you will need a car or be willing to walk quite a bit.
From Fuerteventura airport it is about 40 minutes by car along the FV-1 road, and you can take a taxi or a private transfer. Another option is to fly to Lanzarote and take the ferry from Playa Blanca, which takes about 25 minutes and arrives at the port of Corralejo.
Most allow free cancellation up to a few days before arrival, but it is worth reading the small print because some charge the first night if you cancel late. It is also common for them to ask for a card to guarantee the booking and for payment to be made at the accommodation, although some charge in advance in high season.
