Apartments in Salou

Salou is one of the destinations on the Costa Daurada that has the highest concentration of apartments, and that shows both in the offer and in the prices. Right now there are 874 apartments available in the area, with an average price of 185 euros per night and a minimum that drops to 58 euros. The average category is three stars, so don't expect widespread great luxury, but it is a decent base for spending a few days at the beach or visiting PortAventura. The key is choosing the area well, because staying next to the seafront promenade is not the same as staying on the outskirts or near the station.

If you are looking for quiet and proximity to the beach, the Ponent area, west of the port, is the most family-friendly and has direct access to the sand. There the apartments tend to be larger and have gardens or pools, but also more expensive. The Levante area, to the east, is livelier, with more bars and shops, and prices drop somewhat, although nighttime noise can be a problem in summer. The urban center, around carrer Barcelona and the market, is the cheapest and most practical option for getting around on foot, but you will have to walk between ten and fifteen minutes to the beach. If you come by car, check carefully whether the accommodation includes a parking space, because in July and August finding a spot on the street is almost mission impossible.

As for prices, high season (from June 15 to September 15) sends rates soaring, especially in August. If you can, travel in May, June or September: the weather is still good for the beach and apartments drop by up to 40% compared with August. To get there, the most convenient option is the plane to Reus (about 10 km away) or Barcelona-El Prat (about 90 km away), and from there rent a car or take the direct bus that takes a little over an hour. Within Salou, everything can be done on foot, although to go to La Pineda or Cambrils you will need a car or the city bus. Before booking, check whether the price includes bed linen and towels (sometimes they are charged separately), whether there is air conditioning (it is not always included) and whether the pool is for exclusive use or shared with other buildings. It is also advisable to read the cancellation conditions, because in summer many deals are non-refundable.
