The excursion

A 45–60 minute ride in a round bamboo basket boat, handwoven by Cam Thanh artisans, through the quiet canals of the Bay Mau water coconut forest, only 5 km from Hoi An Ancient Town. Your local rower takes you along the nipa palm waterways, away from the busy groups, and shows you how the village fishermen cast their circular nets on the Thu Bon river. You can try catching small purple crabs among the palm roots (catch and release), learn to paddle the basket boat yourself and watch the famous boat-spinning performance. Life jackets in all sizes, conical hats and umbrellas are provided. A boat takes 2 adults and 1 child under 6.
