The excursion

Day 1: Nairobi to Kisii (306 km, almost all tarmac) through Ngong, Narok and Bomet; night at Itibo Resort. Day 2: Kisii to Rusinga Island (211 km, half off-road) along Lake Victoria, local food for lunch at Karungu. Day 3: Rusinga Island to Kisumu (200 km) through the lakeside villages, lunch at Kendu Bay, night at Wigot Hotel. Day 4: Kisumu to Bungoma (200 km, mostly off-road) with a visit to Kit Mikayi and lunch in Busia. Day 5: Bungoma to Eldoret through Kakamega Forest, lunch in Kapsabet and Mlango waterfall; night at Sirikwa Hotel. Day 6: Eldoret to Nakuru through Iten (230 km), views over the Kerio Valley, the Chebloch Gorge divers, Kabarnet and Eldama Ravine; night at Eagle Palace Hotel. Day 7: Nakuru to Nairobi through Hell's Gate National Park near Naivasha (230 km).
