The 10 best hotels in Benicàssim

Benicàssim is not just any destination on the Mediterranean coast. It has about 188 accommodations in total, and most of them are apartments: 134, compared to 19 hotels, 16 vacation homes, 13 villas and a couple of more unique options. That already tells you something: here you come to experience the town, not to lock yourself away in a resort. The most practical area to stay is the town center and the seafront promenade, because you have supermarkets, pharmacies, bars and the beach on foot. If you prefer peace and quiet, the northern area, towards the Desert de les Palmes, or the residential developments in the upper part give you more silence, but you will need a car for almost everything. The main difference between one area and another is that: convenience versus calm, and also the price, because apartments near the beach tend to go up in July and August.

If you are looking for price, the low season is your ally. Outside June, July and August, the average cost drops quite a bit below the 153 euros per night that are paid on average during the year, and you can find rooms or studios from 63 euros. September is especially good: the water is still warm and the streets are no longer full. On the other hand, if you come for the summer music festival, assume that prices skyrocket and that you will have to book months in advance. To get there, the most convenient option is the train: Benicàssim has a commuter and medium-distance station from Valencia and Castellón. If you go by car, the AP-7 leaves you right at the town exit, and once there, getting around on foot is feasible if you stay near the center; for the residential developments or Voramar beach, better to use a bicycle or car.

Before booking, take a good look at what the apartment includes: not all of them have air conditioning, and in August that makes a difference. Also check whether the price includes bed linen and towels, because in many tourist apartments they charge you extra for them or you have to bring them. And watch out for stairs: many buildings do not have an elevator, and if you are traveling with children or large suitcases, it is worth asking. Finally, pay attention to the real distance to the sea: there are listings that say “5 minutes from the beach” and it is 20 on foot. Examples such as Hotel Bulevard, Hotel Bosquemar or Hotel Canada are well located, but apartments like the “Fantástico apartamento en la playa” usually have better value for money if you book in advance.
