Canyamel is a quiet residential area in the municipality of Capdepera, in the northeast of Mallorca. Unlike Cala Ratjada, its livelier neighbor, here the accommodation is concentrated in two clearly differentiated areas. The first is the beach itself, a stretch of sand about 300 meters long with a seafront promenade lined with hotels and apartments with direct access to the sand. The second is the upper area, inland toward the Artà road, where villas and holiday homes with private pools and more tranquility predominate. If you want the convenience of walking to the beach and restaurants, choose the first; if you prefer space, a garden and don't mind driving down to the coast, the second will give you more for your money.

The main difference between the options lies in the type of trip. The 20 available apartments are the most practical option for couples or families who want a kitchen and flexible schedules; the 8 hotels, mostly 4-star, offer half board or all-inclusive without leaving the complex; the 7 villas and 6 holiday homes are ideal for large groups or long stays, although they tend to be further from the center. The 2 aparthotels combine the best of both worlds: reception service and an apartment with a kitchen. The average price of 588 euros per night gives you an idea that there is plenty of high-end accommodation, but you can also find options from 80 euros, especially in apartments in low season or with early booking.

As for prices, the rule is clear: May, June and September are the months with the best value for money, because the weather is pleasant and rates drop between 30 and 40% compared to July and August. To get there, the most common way is to fly to Palma de Mallorca and rent a car; it is about 75 kilometers on the MA-15 motorway to Artà and then the regional road that goes down to Canyamel. A car is almost essential if you stay in a villa, but if you are in a hotel next to the beach, you can get around by bus (line 411) to Cala Ratjada or Artà. Before booking, check whether the accommodation includes parking, because in summer the beach area gets full, and confirm whether the final price includes tourist taxes and cleaning, which in houses and villas are usually charged separately. It is also worth checking the cancellation policy, especially if you travel in high season, and whether the property has air conditioning, because August nights can be hot.
