Excursions with locals
Carmona has 59 accommodations on our platform, with an average price of 135 euros per night and the cheapest from 65. The offer is divided among apartments (25), holiday homes (10), villas (10), hotels (7), guest houses (4) and the occasional private holiday home. The average category is around 3.3 stars, so don't expect great luxury, but rather functional establishments with character. To choose well, it's worth being clear about which area interests you, because the city is divided into two very different atmospheres: the historic centre, inside the walls, and the modern expansion area, around avenida de Andalucía and the bus station area.
If you're looking for atmosphere, monuments and streets with character, stay in the old town. Here are most of the apartments and guest houses, such as El Rincón de las Descalzas or LA COVACHA DEL PINTOR, which usually occupy renovated buildings with courtyards and high ceilings. It's the best option if you want to walk to the Puerta de Sevilla, the Alcázar or the iglesia de Santa María, and have dinner in the bars of the plaza de Abastos. That said, parking is difficult and the streets are narrow, so if you're travelling by car, ask beforehand whether the accommodation has its own parking space or an arrangement with a nearby car park. The expansion area, on the other hand, concentrates the more modern hotels and some villas with a pool, especially towards the east, near the exit towards Sevilla. It's more practical for arriving and leaving, and prices tend to be somewhat lower for the same amenities, although you lose the experience of sleeping among walls.
As for price, the difference between high and low season is notable. Spring weekends and the April and May fairs are the most expensive, and it's not unusual for the average price to rise above 150 euros. By contrast, from November to February, on weekdays, you'll find rooms from 65 euros and full apartments for little more. To get there, the most comfortable option is by car: from Sevilla it's about 35 minutes along the A-4, and there are direct exits to the historic centre. If you come by train, the nearest high-speed station is in Sevilla, and from there an M-124 bus leaves you in Carmona in about 40 minutes; the stop is in the expansion area, about a 15-minute walk from the centre. Within the town, everything is within walking distance, although to go up from the station to the upper part it's best to be fit. Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has a lift (many old buildings don't), whether the heating or air conditioning works well (stone houses get cold in winter), and whether the price includes cleaning or municipal taxes, which are sometimes added at the end. With that, you'll get it right.
From November to February, on weekdays, is when accommodations drop the most, with rooms from 65 euros. Spring weekends and local fairs are the most expensive, so if your dates are flexible, avoid April and May.
The modern expansion area, around avenida de Andalucía, is much more practical: there's easy parking and direct access from the A-4. In the historic centre you'll have to look for paid parking or depend on the accommodation having its own space.
Take an M-124 bus from the Prado de San Sebastián in Sevilla; it takes about 40 minutes and leaves you at the Carmona bus station. From there, the historic centre is about a 15-minute walk, although uphill.
There are 25 apartments, 10 holiday homes, 10 villas, 7 hotels and 4 guest houses. The apartments and guest houses are concentrated in the old town, while the more modern villas and hotels are on the outskirts.
Most allow free cancellation up to 48 hours before check-in, but it's worth reading the fine print: some apartments charge a damage deposit and others require a final cleaning fee of 20 to 30 euros. It's also common for the price not to include the tourist tax, which is paid at the establishment.
