If you are looking at accommodation in Chipiona, the first thing you should know is that there are 157 options available, with an average price of 166 euros per night and the lowest at 56 euros. The offer is divided between apartments (105), hotels (18), holiday homes (17), guest houses (7), aparthotels (2) and one bed and breakfast. The average category is around 3.4 stars, so don't expect widespread great luxury, but rather functional establishments oriented toward the beach.
As for areas, the most practical is the center and the promenade, because you have everything on foot: the beach of Regla, the castle, the bars and the port. Here you will find mainly apartments and some small hotels; it is ideal if you don't want to depend on the car for anything. The area of the beach of La Cruz and el Camaleón is quieter and more family-friendly, with holiday homes and spacious apartments, but you will need a vehicle or to go by bike to get down to the center. The surroundings of the lighthouse and the area of la Jara is the most remote, with hotels and guest houses that offer more silence and views, although the offer of services is smaller. If you come in high season, the center fills with noise at night; if you prefer to rest, look for something ten or fifteen minutes walking from the core.
Prices drop quite a bit outside July and August, and also in semana santa if it doesn't coincide with local holidays. In May, June and September you find the same apartment for half as much as in August, and with the water already good for swimming. To get there, the most comfortable is to fly to Jerez (about 40 minutes) or to Sevilla (an hour), and from there rent a car; the bus from Jerez or Cádiz exists, but it is slow and with few frequencies. Within the town, walking is normal, although to go to the southern beaches or to the lighthouse a bike or a car is advisable. Before booking, check if the accommodation includes a garage space or nearby parking, because in summer parking in the center is torture. Also check if the price includes bed linen and towels, and if there is air conditioning, because many guest houses do not have it. Finally, check the cancellation policy: in apartments it is usually stricter than in hotels, and some require a 30% deposit in advance.
The average price is around 166 euros, but you can find options from 56 euros if you look in low season or in advance. In August, the average rises quite a bit, especially in apartments near the beach.
May, June and September are the ideal months: the weather is good, the water is acceptable and prices drop up to 40% compared to July and August. If you come in semana santa, there are also deals, but the weather is more unstable.
The beach of La Cruz and el Camaleón is the most recommendable, because it is wide, with little slope and less crowded than that of Regla. Look for holiday homes or apartments in that area, although you will need a car to go to the center.
You can fly to Jerez or Sevilla and then take a bus, but the frequencies are limited, especially in winter. The most practical is to rent a car at the airport, because it will also allow you to move to the nearby beaches or to Sanlúcar.
Most ask for a deposit of 20 to 30% when booking and the rest on arrival. Free cancellation is usually limited to 7 or 15 days before check-in; after that period, you lose the deposit. In hotels, the conditions are more flexible, with free cancellation up to 24 or 48 hours before.
