Denia has more than one thousand three hundred accommodation options, so choosing is not difficult due to a lack of supply, but rather due to an excess. The first thing you should be clear about is that most of them are apartments and villas, not hotels. In fact, of the 1312 available accommodations, 938 are apartments and 141 villas, while there are only 30 hotels. That means that if you are looking for reception service or full board, your options are greatly reduced. On the other hand, if you prefer independence, your own kitchen, and space, you are in the right place.
As for areas, the city center and the port are the best option if you want to walk everywhere: restaurants, supermarkets, the castle, and the urban beaches. Here the atmosphere is livelier, but also noisier in summer. If you are looking for tranquility and wider beaches, the residential areas to the north, such as Les Rotes or Las Marinas, offer villas and houses with gardens, although you will need a car for almost everything. To the south, toward El Montgó, you will find rural houses with mountain views, ideal if you prefer nature and silence. The main difference is mobility: in the center you do not need a vehicle, in the outskirts you definitely do.
Prices vary a lot depending on the season. The average price is around 201 euros per night, but you can find options from 52 euros if you travel in winter or during low-demand weeks. June and September are the months with the best value for money: the weather is pleasant and rates drop compared to July and August. To get there, the most convenient option is to fly to Alicante or Valencia and rent a car; from both airports it is about 100 kilometers. There are also direct buses from Alicante, but to move around the residential areas you will need a car. Before booking, check whether the accommodation includes bed linen and towels, because in many apartments they are not provided, and confirm whether the final price includes cleaning or the energy supplement, which is usually charged separately.
The cheapest accommodation is around 52 euros per night, but that is usually in low season and in small apartments or guest rooms. In summer, the minimum price rises considerably, so if your budget is tight, it is better to book months in advance.
June and September are the ideal months: the weather is good for the beach and prices are noticeably lower than in July and August. If you do not mind the cold, from November to March you will find deals well below average, although some restaurants and services close.
The center of Denia and the port area are the only places where you can get around comfortably on foot. There you have supermarkets, pharmacies, urban beaches, and the castle less than fifteen minutes away on foot. The residential areas to the north or the houses in El Montgó are beautiful, but without a car you will be very limited.
From Alicante or Valencia there are direct buses to Denia, although the journey takes about two hours. The most practical option is to rent a car at the airport, because most accommodations are in residential areas and public transport within the municipality is limited, especially outside the city center.
Check whether the price includes final cleaning, bed linen, and towels, because in many apartments they are charged separately or not provided. Also look at the cancellation policy and whether they ask for a deposit, which is common in villas and vacation homes. And ask about the energy supplement, which some owners add at the end of the stay.
