If you are looking at accommodation in Huesca, the first thing you should know is that the offer is divided between the city centre and its immediate surroundings, and that the difference between one area and another is noticeable. In the city centre, around calle Coso and plaza de Navarra, you will find most of the hotels and guest houses. Here everything is done on foot: the tapas bars, the cathedral, the Ayuntamiento and parque Miguel Servet are less than ten minutes away. It is the most convenient option if you are going to stay for a short time or if your plan is to go out at night without worrying about the car. Noise can be a drawback on some streets, especially at weekends, so if you are a light sleeper, ask for an interior room or look on side streets.
The other large area is the ensanche and the neighbourhoods further from the old town, where most of the apartments are concentrated. They tend to be larger and brighter, with a equipped kitchen, and the price per night is lower than in the centre. Of course, you will have to rely on public transport or your own vehicle to get around, because the distances are not huge but they are not comfortable on foot with suitcases either. If you come by car, this area makes parking easier for you, which in the centre is expensive and scarce. There are also some holiday homes on the outskirts, designed for those looking for peace and space, although to go for dinner or run errands you will depend on the car no matter what.
As for prices, the average is around 103 euros per night and you can find options from 65 euros, especially in low season. The months of July and August, and the weeks of Semana Santa and the December long weekend, are the most expensive. If you can, travel in May, June or September: the weather is good and prices drop quite a bit. To get there, the best option is the AVE train from Zaragoza or Madrid, which leaves you at the Huesca station about twenty minutes on foot from the centre. If you come by car, the A-23 connects with Zaragoza and with France through the Somport tunnel. Within the city, urban buses cover the main routes well, although to move between the centre and the ensanche it is almost always faster to walk. Before booking, check whether the accommodation has a lift (many old buildings do not), whether the price includes cleaning or taxes, and whether cancellation is flexible, because in Huesca the weather can change your plans from one day to the next.

Spring (May and June) and early autumn (September) are ideal: the weather is pleasant and prices are lower than in summer or on public holiday weekends. Avoid August and Semana Santa if you want to pay less, because demand rises and so do prices.
The historic centre, around calle Coso and plaza de Navarra, is the most practical. From there you can walk to all the points of interest and to the train station. If you prefer more peace and quiet and do not mind walking a little further, the ensanche is also viable, but you will have to use the urban bus for some distances.

Check whether the price includes municipal taxes and cleaning, because sometimes they are not included at first glance. Also look at whether there is a lift, especially in old buildings, and whether cancellation is flexible, since the weather in Huesca can change your plans at short notice.
