Manacor is the largest municipality in Mallorca and, although many people associate it only with the pearl industry or tennis, its accommodation offering is varied and has a personality of its own. At HotelsCasa you currently have 179 properties available, with an average price of 1043 euros per night, although the cheapest goes down to 75 euros. The average category is around 3.1 stars, so don't expect widespread great luxury, but rather charming houses and villas. In fact, the bulk of the offering are villas (101) and holiday homes (34), while hotels and apartments add up to 30 options between the two. If you're looking for a resort, there is only one, so you'll have to decide quickly if that's what you want.
When choosing an area, it's worth distinguishing between the urban core and the coast. Within Manacor city, options such as My Rooms Manacor Centre or Hotel O7 Colombo let you walk to bars, shops and the Tuesday market. It's the best choice if you don't rent a car and prefer to have services at hand, although the atmosphere is more village-like than beach-like. On the other hand, if what you feel like is resting and being near the sea, the Porto Cristo area, about 15 minutes by car, concentrates many of the villas and private houses, such as Son Mesquida Vell or BJ Playa Blanca. There the price goes up, but you gain peace and quiet and access to coves such as Cala Anguila or Cala Mendia. There are also accommodations inland, near Son Macià or the Felanitx roads, which are usually cheaper and give you an authentic rural base, although you will definitely need a vehicle.
As for prices, high season (July and August) sends rates soaring, especially for villas with a pool. If you can, travel in May, June or September: the weather is still good and prices can drop by up to 40% compared to summer. To get there, the most practical thing is to fly to Palma and rent a car at the airport; it will take you about 45 minutes on the MA-15 motorway. There are also direct buses from Palma, but they limit you when moving between coves. Before booking, always check whether the accommodation includes air conditioning (it's not unusual for old houses not to have it), whether the pool is private or shared, and whether final cleaning is included or paid separately. Also look at the exact distance to the beach: many listings say "near the coast" and then it's 20 minutes by car.
The average price is around 1043 euros per night, but it's an average that is pulled up a lot by the large luxury villas. You can find options from 75 euros, especially in hotel rooms or small apartments outside high season.
May, June and September are the ideal months: the weather is pleasant and prices drop quite a bit compared to July and August. In winter, from November to March, you'll find very low rates, but many accommodations close and the atmosphere is quieter.
Stay in the center of Manacor, near the plaza or the avenida de los Damos. There you have hotels such as My Rooms Manacor Centre and everything you need on foot, although to go to the beach you'll have to take a bus or a taxi.
The most comfortable option is to rent a car at the airport and take the MA-15, which gets you to Manacor in about 45 minutes. If you prefer public transport, there are line 401 buses that leave every hour, but they take longer and don't reach the coastal developments.
Check whether the price includes final cleaning, because many villas charge it separately and it can mean an extra 80 to 150 euros. Also look at whether air conditioning has an additional cost and whether the pool is for exclusive use or shared with the owners.
