Rota has 219 accommodations on our platform, and most of them are apartments: 179, compared to 15 holiday homes, 8 hotels, 5 aparthotels, one villa and one private holiday home. The average price per night is around 163 euros, although you can find options from 71 euros if you book early or outside high season. The average rating of the establishments is 3.5 stars, so don't expect great luxury, but rather functional and well-located accommodations.
As for areas, the most practical thing is to divide Rota into three areas. The historic centre and the seafront promenade, around Plaza de España and calle Gravina, is where hotels and aparthotels such as Apartahotel La Espadaña are concentrated. Here you have everything on foot: bars, shops and the beach of la Costilla just a few minutes away. It is the best option if you don't want to use the car at all, but parking can be a headache in July and August. The second area is the coast towards the south, where Apartamentos Costa de la Luz playa and other complexes with a pool are located. They are ideal if you are travelling as a family or looking for peace and quiet, but you need a vehicle to go to the centre or do the shopping. The third is the northern area, near the port and the golf course, with holiday homes and villas such as those you will find in the listing. It is more residential and quiet, but less practical for getting around without a car.
Prices drop notably outside June to September. If you can, look between October and May: the weather is still mild for walking, and the average price can fall below 100 euros. At Easter and on the May bank holidays, however, they rise almost as much as in summer. To get there, the most convenient thing is to fly to Jerez (30 minutes away) or to Sevilla (an hour away), and then rent a car. There are also buses from Jerez and Cádiz, but the frequency is limited, especially in winter. Within Rota, getting around on foot in the centre is normal; for the southern beaches or the golf course, better to use a bicycle or car.
Before booking, check three things. First, whether the accommodation has a garage space or free parking nearby, because in summer it is a serious problem. Second, the real distance to the beach: many apartments say "sea views" but are a 15-minute walk away. Third, the cancellation conditions, because some owners require non-refundable advance payments. Examples such as Apartamentos San Francisco by Summerland or Hostal Restaurante La Giralda usually have flexible policies, but don't take it for granted. Always compare the total price with cleaning fees included, which sometimes do not appear in the first search.
The cheapest accommodation on our platform comes to about 71 euros per night. That is usually a small apartment in low season, booked several weeks in advance. In August, the same type of accommodation is around 150 or 180 euros.
From October to May, except Easter and bank holidays, is when prices are lowest and the weather is still good for walking along the beach. June and September are a middle ground: good weather, but higher prices. July and August are the most expensive and crowded.
The historic centre and the seafront promenade, where most hotels and aparthotels are located, is the most practical. From there you can walk to the beach, the bars and the port. The southern and northern areas, with houses and villas, are quieter but force you to take a taxi or bus.
The most direct way is to fly to Jerez, rent a car and drive about 30 minutes along the A-491. From Sevilla, the journey is one hour on the motorway. If you don't want a car, there are buses from Jerez and Cádiz, but with few frequencies, so check schedules before buying the ticket.
It varies a lot depending on the owner. Many apartments ask for a 30% deposit and the rest on arrival, with free cancellation up to 7 days before. Others, especially in summer, require full payment and do not refund if you cancel. Always read the fine print about cleaning fees and deposits.
