Excursions with locals
Sabadell is not a city that people visit by chance, but if you have to spend a few days there, whether for work, to visit someone, or because it's on your way to the Pyrenees, it's worth knowing what you're getting into. The accommodation offer consists of 21 establishments, with an average price of 124 euros per night and a minimum of 76. The average category is around 3.2 stars, so don't expect large luxury hotels, but rather functional and well-located options. Most are apartments (11), followed by hotels (9) and a single guesthouse. With that in mind, the important thing is to choose the right area, because the city is divided into very different neighborhoods.
For accommodation, there are three areas that work well depending on what you're looking for. The center, around the Rambla and Plaça Sant Roc, is the most practical if you come by train or want to walk to places. There you'll find the Hotel Urpí, a longtime establishment, and also the Hotel Urpi, which are sometimes confused but are different establishments. It's an area with daytime noise, but quiet at night, and you have everything nearby: bars, shops, and the commercial hub. If you come by car, better avoid the center: parking is a nightmare and many streets are single-platform. The second interesting area is around the Renfe station and Eix Macià, more modern, with hotels like the Sercotel Arrahona Sabadell, about a ten-minute walk from the center. It's generally more expensive, but if you come for work, it's worth it for the proximity to offices and the Can Roqueta industrial estate. The third option is the exit toward Terrassa, where the Aparthotel Attica 21 Vallés is located. It's the most remote area, but also the cheapest and with easy parking. If your plan is to get around by car and you don't mind driving ten minutes for dinner, it pays off.
As for prices, the difference between weekdays and weekends is notable. From Monday to Thursday, Sabadell fills up with business travelers and hotels raise their rates; on the weekend demand drops and you can find rooms below 100 euros, even in the center. If your trip is flexible, try to book from Friday to Sunday. To get there, the most comfortable option from Barcelona is the Renfe train (line R4) from Plaça Catalunya, which takes about 40 minutes and leaves you in the center. By car, the C-58 connects you in half an hour, but it gets congested at rush hour. To get around within the city, walk or use the urban bus; taxis are expensive and the tram doesn't reach everywhere. Before booking, check if the accommodation includes breakfast (many don't and coffee outside costs you the same), if it has an elevator (there are guesthouses in buildings without elevators), and if the reception is 24 hours, because if you arrive late, some apartments have no one to give you the keys.
The average price is around 124 euros per night, although you can find options from 76 euros. The difference depends a lot on the area and the day of the week: hotels in the center and near the station are more expensive than those on the outskirts.
The weekend, especially from Friday to Sunday, is when prices drop because business travel demand disappears. August and the Christmas weeks also tend to be cheaper, since industrial activity slows down.
The exit toward Terrassa, where the Aparthotel Attica 21 Vallés is located, is the most practical because it has parking and direct access to the C-58. The center is difficult for parking and many streets are pedestrian-priority, so if you don't want hassles, avoid it.
The Renfe train on line R4 from Plaça Catalunya is the best option: it takes about 40 minutes and leaves you at the Sabadell station, a ten-minute walk from the center. There are also intercity buses, but they are slower and less frequent.
Most hotels allow free cancellation up to 24 or 48 hours before arrival, but apartments are usually stricter and require prepayment. Before booking, check if the reception is 24 hours, because in some apartments there is no one to receive you if you arrive late.
