In summer it is hot but there is a sea breeze, and in winter temperatures hover around 10 degrees, with fewer tourists and lower prices. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and dry summers.

From Monaco you can take the train or drive to Nice, about 20 minutes away, with its promenade and flower market. Also nearby is Èze, a medieval village on a cliff with coastal views, and Menton, on the Italian border, famous for its gardens.
