Excursions with locals
Benidorm has more than 1,700 rental apartments, and the offer is so wide that choosing the area shapes almost the entire experience. If you're looking for beach and atmosphere, the center and the first line of Levante are for you: there you have the promenade, the beach bars and the nightlife at street level, although nighttime noise can be annoying if your apartment faces the main avenue. The Poniente area is quieter and more family-friendly, with wider sand and fewer crowds, ideal if you prefer to rest and don't mind walking a bit to go for dinner or shopping. El Rincón de Loix, north of Levante, is a middle option: more residential, with good supermarkets and quick access to the highway, but somewhat further from the tourist core.
Prices vary greatly depending on the season. In winter you can find apartments from 61 euros per night, and the annual average is around 250, but in July and August that average skyrockets and deals are scarce. If your dates are flexible, May, June, September and October are the months with the best value for money: the weather cooperates, the beaches aren't packed and prices drop between 30 and 40 percent compared to summer. Long weekends and local holidays also drive prices up, so booking three to six weeks in advance usually gives access to more reasonable rates.
To get there, Alicante-Elche airport is about 45 minutes away by car or on the C-6 bus, which leaves you at the Benidorm bus station. If you come by train, the commuter line from Alicante reaches the Benidorm station, although with a transfer in Villena. Once there, most apartments are less than ten minutes' walk from the beach, but if you stay in El Rincón de Loix or on the slopes of Puig Campana, it's advisable to rent a car or use the city buses, which run well until midnight. Before booking, check whether the apartment includes a parking space, because parking in the center in summer is complicated and expensive. Also check whether the final price includes cleaning, bed linen and towels, and whether there is a surcharge for pets or for air conditioning, which is not always included. Finally, check recent reviews about noise and the condition of the furniture, because in old buildings the photos can be misleading.
The average price per night is around 250 euros, but you can find options from 61 euros in low season. The figure rises notably in July and August, when demand is at its peak.
May, June, September and October are the ideal months: the weather is pleasant, the beaches are less crowded and prices drop between 30 and 40 percent compared to summer. Avoid long weekends and local holidays if you want more affordable rates.
If you want beach, atmosphere and everything at hand, the center and the first line of Levante are your place. For tranquility and wider sand, choose Poniente; and if you prefer a residential neighborhood with good access, El Rincón de Loix is a good option.
Most apartments are close to the beach, so walking covers almost everything. For more distant areas, the city buses run well until midnight, and from Alicante airport there is a direct bus service that takes about 45 minutes.
Check whether the price includes cleaning, bed linen and towels, and whether there are surcharges for air conditioning or pets. Also check whether a parking space is available, because parking in the center in summer is difficult and expensive.
