Baeza is not a big city, so choosing the area where to sleep depends more on the atmosphere you are looking for than on the distance to the monuments. The historic centre, declared a World Heritage Site, is compact and largely pedestrian. If you come by car, keep in mind that many streets are narrow and some are restricted to resident traffic, so staying inside the walled perimeter may mean a parking surcharge or having to leave the vehicle in a nearby public car park. Even so, it is the most convenient option for visiting the Catedral, the Plaza del Populo or the old carnicerías on foot. The Carrera de las Monjas area and its surroundings concentrate charming hotels in refurbished buildings, such as the Hotel Baeza Monumental or the Puerta de la Luna, and it is ideal if you want to go out for dinner without worrying about the car.

Outside the historic centre, towards avenida de Andalucía or the area near the bus station, you will find more spacious apartments and holiday homes with better value for money. The main difference is noise and parking: on the outskirts it is easier to park for free and the accommodations usually have a terrace or patio, but you will have to walk between ten and fifteen minutes to the centre. If you are travelling as a family or intend to cook, apartments (there are 59 in the current HotelsCasa offer) are the most practical option. Holiday homes, about twelve, are usually in nearby villages or in developments on the outskirts, and are better for long stays.

As for price, high season coincides with spring and autumn, when events such as the Feria de la Virgen de la Encina or the early music days are held. In July and August, although it is hot, prices drop slightly because there is less cultural demand. Winter is the cheapest time, with minimums of 60 euros per night, and the annual average stands at 109 euros. To get there, the most common way is to take the AVE to Linares-Baeza (about 15 kilometres away) and then a taxi or local bus. If you come by car, the A-32 connects with the A-4 from Madrid. To get around, the centre can be easily explored on foot; you only need a vehicle if you stay outside and want to go to Úbeda or the Sierra de Cazorla. Before booking, check whether the accommodation has a lift (many are old houses without one), whether the price includes cleaning or bed linen, and whether cancellation is flexible, because rural houses usually have stricter conditions than hotels.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average price per night in Baeza?

The average price is around 109 euros, although you can find options from 60 euros in low season. Apartments are usually cheaper than the charming hotels in the historic centre.

What is the best time to travel to Baeza?

Spring and autumn are ideal because of the weather and cultural activities, but they are also the most expensive. If you are looking for low prices, January and February are the cheapest months, with fewer tourists and moderate cold.

Where is it best to stay, inside or outside the historic centre?

Inside the historic centre, to enjoy the monumental atmosphere and not use the car; outside, to save money and have easy parking. The distance between both areas is ten or fifteen minutes on foot, so it is not a serious problem.

How do you get to Baeza and how do you get around the city?

The Linares-Baeza train station is 15 kilometres away; from there there are taxis and buses. Once in Baeza, the whole centre can be explored on foot, and if you stay on the outskirts, it is best to have a car to go to Úbeda or the sierra.

What booking conditions should I check before paying?

Check whether cancellation is free or not, especially in holiday homes and apartments, which usually ask for a deposit. Also look at whether the price includes final cleaning, towels and sheets, and whether there is a surcharge for heating or air conditioning.
