Cáceres has 220 accommodations on our platform, with an average price of 108 euros per night and the lowest from 53 euros. The offer is divided among apartments (164), hotels (27), guest houses (13), holiday homes (10), villas (3) and one family house. The average category is around 3.3 stars, so you'll find functional options rather than luxurious ones, although with good value for money if you choose well.
To stay, the most practical area is the old town, inside the walled enclosure: there you'll find the Plaza Mayor, the Co-cathedral and the palaces that make the city famous. Of course, the cobblestones and slopes can be a nuisance with suitcases, and parking is usually paid or limited. If you come by car, you should look at hotels in the area of Avenida de España or near Paseo de Cánovas, where parking is easier and you're a ten-minute walk from the center. The new area, around the train station or the sports complex, is quieter and cheaper, but you'll lose time traveling if your plan is to visit monuments.
The main difference between some areas and others is noise and convenience: inside the walls you live the tourist and terrace atmosphere, but at the cost of fewer supermarket or pharmacy services nearby; outside, you gain in logistics and lose in atmosphere. Prices drop from November to February, except during Semana Santa and Womad (May), when they skyrocket. If you can, book on weekdays and two or three weeks in advance; spring and autumn weekends are the most expensive. To get there, the train from Madrid takes about three hours, and the bus leaves you next to the center; the nearest airport is Badajoz, about 45 minutes by car. Within the city, everything important is walkable, and to move to the outskirts there are city buses that run every 15 or 20 minutes.
Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has an elevator (many old buildings don't), whether the price includes breakfast or cleaning (some apartments charge a supplement for changing towels) and the cancellation policy, because holiday homes are usually stricter than hotels. Examples of places you'll see in the listing: Hotel Nuevo Ara, Hostal Neptuno, KubiK HOTEL and Hostal Plaza de Italia, all with decent ratings and different locations. Don't rely only on the photos: read recent comments about nighttime noise, because in the old town there are bars that close late.
The average price per night is 108 euros, and the lowest you'll find is around 53 euros. That minimum price usually appears in apartments or guest houses in low season, booking in advance.
From November to February, outside Semana Santa and Womad, is when accommodations drop the most. Spring and autumn weekends are the most expensive, so if you can go on weekdays, better.
Look for accommodation on Avenida de España or near Paseo de Cánovas, where parking is easier and free on some streets. Inside the old town parking is complicated and expensive, although the experience of being there makes up for it if you don't mind walking.
The historic center is perfectly walkable, you don't need transport to see the main things. To go to more distant areas, such as the industrial estate or the hospital, there are city buses that run every 15 or 20 minutes from Plaza de América.
Always look at the cancellation policy, because holiday homes and villas are usually stricter than hotels. Also check if there are supplements for cleaning or use of the kitchen, and if the price includes VAT and taxes, which sometimes don't appear at first glance.
