Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura, is one of those places where the accommodation offer is so wide that it's worth knowing what you're looking for before diving in. Right now there are 1133 accommodations available, with an average price of 146 euros per night and a minimum of 69. The average category is around 3.2 stars, so don't expect widespread luxury, but rather a comfortable and functional base to enjoy the beach and the Dunas natural park.
The area where you stay makes quite a difference. The center of Corralejo, around calle Eusebio Carballo and the port, is ideal if you want to walk everywhere: restaurants, supermarkets, shops and the pier to catch the ferry to Lobos or Lanzarote. There you'll find small apartments and studios, such as the “central luminous cute studio by the beach & harbour”, which tend to be bright and practical, although sometimes with some nighttime noise. If you prefer tranquility, the El Campanario area or the surroundings of the Parque Natural, towards the south, have villas and holiday homes with private pools, but you'll need a car to go down to the beach or out for dinner. The area of the playa de Corralejo, to the east, is a middle ground: hotels and aparthotels with direct access to the sand, but with less leisure offer around.
As for prices, there's no bad season, but there are clear differences. From November to March prices drop quite a bit, and you can find that minimum of 69 euros in well-located apartments. From June to September, and especially in August, demand drives rates up, and the average price rises above 160 euros. If your date is flexible, look for midweek and avoid Spanish long weekends and Holy Weeks, which is when everything goes up the most. To get there, the usual thing is to fly to Fuerteventura (El Matorral airport) and then take a rental car or a guagua (that's what they call the bus there) which takes about 45 minutes. Once in Corralejo, if you don't have a car, the center is very walkable, but to go to the dunes or the southern beaches you'll need transport.
Before booking, check three things: whether the accommodation has air conditioning (many apartments only have a fan), whether the kitchen is equipped with a ceramic hob or burners (some only have a microwave), and whether the final price includes cleaning and taxes, because sometimes extra charges appear at payment. Also look at the photos of the bathrooms and recent reviews about noise, because in Corralejo there's a lot of renovation work and some old buildings are somewhat neglected. With that, you'll get it right.
The average price is around 146 euros per night, although you can find options from 69 euros in low season. Apartments are the cheapest, while villas and holiday homes usually exceed that average.
From April to June and from September to October you have pleasant weather, beaches without crowds and lower prices than in summer. Avoid August and Holy Week if you want to pay less.
The center of Corralejo, near the port and calle Eusebio Carballo, is the best option because everything is on foot. From there you can walk to the beach, the restaurants and the pier for excursions.
You can take a taxi (about 40-50 euros) or the guagua line 6, which takes about 45 minutes and costs around 5 euros. If you're going to move around the island, renting a car at the airport is the most practical.
Most offer free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival, but some villas require a 30% non-refundable deposit. Always check whether the price includes final cleaning and tourist taxes, because they're not always included.
