Chișinău is the capital of Moldova, a small country between Romania and Ukraine. It is visited for its calm atmosphere, interwar and Soviet architecture, and as a base to explore the region's most famous underground wineries.

The center is concentrated around the Great National Assembly Square, where you will find the Nativity Cathedral and the Triumphal Arch, both built in the 19th century. To the south, the Botanica sector houses the park of the same name and several summer terraces.
To get around, public transport includes trolleybuses and buses that cover the entire city, although for visitors it is more practical to walk or use taxis, which are cheap. Distances are short and traffic, except during rush hours, is not chaotic.

Moldovan cuisine is hearty, with dishes such as mămăligă (thick polenta), sarmale (stuffed vine or cabbage leaves), and mititei (grilled meat rolls). In the center there are numerous restaurants serving traditional cuisine at moderate prices. The Cricova wineries, 15 km away, offer visits with tastings and are an essential excursion for wine lovers.
Nightlife is not comparable to other European capitals, but there are cocktail bars and pubs in the center, especially around Vlaicu Pârcălab Street and Ștefan cel Mare Avenue. On weekends, some venues organize live music with local folklore or covers of international pop.

The best time is from May to September, when temperatures are pleasant and terraces are open. In summer it can be hot, but nights are cool. Winter is cold and gray, although it has the charm of Christmas markets and fewer tourists. Spring and autumn are ideal for combining city sightseeing with winery visits.
